Generations of Trust and Quality Textiles Quality textiles for every Sri Lankan was the aspiration, which set in motion the popular domestic name ‘Salusala’. Opening it’s doors in 1967 to the Sri Lankan public with a small but elegant showroom in the heart of Colombo, they soon became a name to be reckoned within the Sri Lankan textile diligence. For every reason or season the people of Sri Lanka flocked to Salusala for all their quality clothes and linen. No visitor to the country ever missed out on a visit to the Salusala Showrooms. In 1971 the thriving textile giant was converted to a corporation under the state trading corporation act. It became a limited liability company with it’s long- term focus on privatization in 1991. The open economic policies introduced in 1977 gave a new kind of dynamism to Salusala. They not only developed their scope in manufacturing the highest quality powerloom and handloom textiles, but they also undertook the sewing of textile related products. Today garments and textiles have assumed an
important role in Sri Lanka’s economic development,
and Salusala has changed it’s outlook and it’s
thinking to evolve with the times. Today they
broaden their horizons with a retail chain of 25
outlets neatly spread island-wide. Salusala also has a unique attraction at Liberty Plaza, an exclusive handloom boutique, which features their world- class products manufactured at their own handloom factories. Salusala has also combined with CWE, better known as “ Sathosa”, one of Sri Lanka’s leading chain of super markets to extend their reach. What began as a new concept at the Kalutara branch has now been extended to Batticaloa and Buttala. They are also looking into spreading their range through a chain of franchise outlets. Salusala is one of Sri Lanka’s largest handloom manufacturers who specializes in sarees, sarongs, kurthas, shirts, bed linen, curtaining, serviettes, dusters, tapestry and carpets etc. Presently ,their production is only limited to Salusala outlets. Plans are already afoot to expand their markets both locally and globally. As for the future Salusala continues to stick to it’s
pioneering vision of “ providing quality textiles to every
Sri Lankan at affordable prices”. Within that skeleton,
they also have opened their doors to new challenges
and opportunities. With their expertise, infrastructure
and dynamic attitude they are out to make a change
